this week’s FOs

well, technically, these are some of the last two weeks’ FOs, but, uhhhhh, i’ve been busy. or just tired. take your pick.

first, a hat knitted using skein remnants.

the black is caron simply soft acrylic, left over from the felicity hats i made earlier this year. the other yarns are leftover chenilles from years and years ago. i’m not one to get rid of craft supplies i can use later!

i pretty much winged it with the pattern.

and then there’s this:

i needed a little pouch that would fit my notebook and whatever writing/drawing implements i want to carry with it, so i sewed up a bunch of scraps and made this zip-top pouch.

the finished size is 7.5″ X 11.5″.

and it’s fully lined.

fits my notebook, fountain pen, colored pencils, and then some. and best of all, i depleted my stash by using only what i had on hand.

and now i’m off to do some more stash-busting!

i was BUSY yesterday.

knitted a few roses.

decided to do something with my old “where’s waldo” t-shirt.

and i got an idea and shot a crappy photo of my right hand.

and i used that crappy photo as a guide to draw my hand onto the non-sticky side of the backing paper from that printable fabric i used to make wallets last weekend.

i think i should’ve ironed the painted part of the shirt before i pulled it over the dressform. but hey, no biggie. it was a fun experiment!

i also worked on a collage, which i may or may not finish tonight. gotta love those long holiday weekends.

i may end up knitting the band, then crocheting the rest of the hat. haven’t decided yet.

i always have a list of arty/crafty projects i want to work on, but sometimes i get stuck. like, yeah, i see that “make a velvet jacket” is on my list, but i really have to be in the right frame of mind for sewing velvet, especially when it involves clothing that needs to fit and not look too wonky. i love velvet, but it can be so much work.

ok, so how about working on that cat painting? the canvas is ready to go, and the picture is sketched on there, but i just wasn’t feeling the urge to paint or get messy.

sewing fabric yoyos for the stash? not in the mood.

making a muslin of that frenchglen barn jacket pattern? again, not in the mood.

making covers for those cream-colored chairs? too much planning involved.

sewing something using all those big remnants of polar fleece that are taking up valuable real estate in the craft room closet? oh, yeah, right – make something warm just in time for spring!

after that half-hour of internal debate, i finally just pulled a bunch of small balls of leftover yarn from my stash, my set of circs, and the Artfibers generic hat pattern directions and just started knitting. no plans, no ideas, just knitting and switching yarns here and there. a simple casual hat.

felicity number two, and then some

felicity number two is done, this time in black.

i added 7 stitches when i cast on, and used size 7 needles for the entire hat.

i also did some embroidery over the weekend.

i started with this plain wool beret:

and added bias tape around the band so i could actually wear it without having an itchy forehead.

and ears of corn!

just started another felicity hat, this time in black.

my knitting skills are a little rusty, since i don’t knit as much as i could/should, and i totally forgot how to do the make 1 increase. and i was too lazy to get off the couch and look in my stitch & bitch book for the first round of increases, so that round looks kind of craptastic. ummmmm DUH. next time i’ll haul my lazy ass into the other room and pull a book off the shelf before i start screwing up.
