fake flowers and a real potholder

the craft stash is being cleared out, bit by bit.

i found a bag of fake flowers in one of my bins. some were pulled apart, some still intact.

so i spent a little time stacking different petals atop one another.

roses and daisies and sunflowers and carnations…

it was like putting together a couple of jigsaw puzzles.

a couple of buttons for each – one on top to hold the petals in place, and one big ‘un on the bottom. plus a safety pin, for, uh, pinning to a shirt or jacket or purse or headband.

also pulled from the stash: a denim block, left over from one of my rug-making projects.

now, it’s a (very sturdy!) potholder.

the bias tape is leftover from another project, too. and when i pulled it out, i noticed i didn’t have a lot of bias tape left in the stash. so i made more, using (what else?) fabric i had on hand.

i cut 2″ strips to make 1″ tape. i think i like the plaid one the best. and since i need some more potholders to replace the old stained/burned/ torn ones, it should be used up pretty quickly!
