felicity number two, and then some

felicity number two is done, this time in black.

i added 7 stitches when i cast on, and used size 7 needles for the entire hat.

i also did some embroidery over the weekend.

i started with this plain wool beret:

and added bias tape around the band so i could actually wear it without having an itchy forehead.

and ears of corn!

some fava beans and a nice chianti

i need to find a no-fail, EASY set of instructions for cooking these dried fava beans. the first batch i tried… well, let’s just say they ended up as a flavorless mush. blech. i may have had the heat too high, and i’m thinking i should have removed the skins before i soaked them, or something. i keep running into directions that contradict each other, so i have no idea.

do any of y’all have a tried-and-true method? please and thanks!

just started another felicity hat, this time in black.

my knitting skills are a little rusty, since i don’t knit as much as i could/should, and i totally forgot how to do the make 1 increase. and i was too lazy to get off the couch and look in my stitch & bitch book for the first round of increases, so that round looks kind of craptastic. ummmmm DUH. next time i’ll haul my lazy ass into the other room and pull a book off the shelf before i start screwing up.
