something i found in the closet
September 27, 2008 at 1:33 pm | In non-craft | 2 Commentsi’ve been going through a lot of boxes over the past few weeks. not just those at mom’s, but some of my own. just clearing out the clutter, i guess.
in a box of some old journals, i found my ticket stubs from concerts and shows i attended in the 80s and early 90s. my first ever big concert was Echo and the Bunnymen. the opening bands were The Three O’Clock and The Fleshtones. what a show!
i thought i’d share the rest of the stubs i found in the box.
yes, i used to be a skateboarder. a crappy one to be sure, but one with friends who were sponsored skaters.
HEY, don’t laugh! i bet you have some equally hilarious ticket stubs in your own closet.
i know there are a few missing here and there. i used to love going to concerts. and anything i saw after 1992 is gone with the wind (or more likely shredded into oblivion with the rest of my old paperwork).
i must be really messy in the kitchen
September 7, 2008 at 8:52 am | In FO, crafts, sewing | 2 Commentsor maybe i just like aprons.
this is my latest creation, made using mccall’s pattern M5643. it’s the “posie’s kitchen” version. i was super excited when i found this pattern at joann last week, so i whipped it up yesterday.
all the fabrics were pulled from my existing stash, as were the buttons.
and here is a real quick look at the apron collection in my kitchen:
there are six aprons here. i made five of them. the other is a Maxine comic apron that says “kiss my asparagus”. my mom bought that one (she’s a big Maxine fan). it’s perfect for those days (like yesterday, for instance) when i’m whipping ups some beer bread and finishing the six-pack while it bakes.
the bunny butt chair cover
September 1, 2008 at 5:59 am | In FO, crafts, sewing | 1 Commentyes, it’s yet another ikea-related project. i found another use for that ikea bunny butt duvet cover fabric that i used to make my yoga mat bag last year.
this is the ikea desk chair i bought around six or seven years ago.
the fabric’s getting a little worn, and instead of replacing a perfectly usable chair, i figured i’d cover it. nothing permanent, though, just in case i get bored with the color scheme or just want a change now and again. heck, that’s why we have three different covers for the couch. that, and the fact that we both spill things regularly, and it’s nice to be able to take off a cover and throw it in the washer.
i traced around the seat back and pad in order to make a pattern, but pretty much winged the rest of it.
yay, bunny butts!
